Detective Investigation IV MV with "Big Big World" song
1999《刑事侦辑档案IV》MV《Big Big World》
Somehow, the song "I'm a big, big girl in a big world" popped into my head today, and I immediately thought about one of my favorite TVB couples- Louis Koo and Jessica. So I searched for this song and them on Youtube and saw this wonderful MV. Watching this reminds me of their memorable and yet bittersweet relationship in the serie. I think LJ are so memorable not only b/c of their chemistry but because their relationship ending was so sad and unexpected. Jessica keeps on saying that she fell in love with Louis's character Tsui Fei in various interviews...but I can't help to think that she also partly fell in love with Mr. Louis Koo himself too!
Here are some links about LJ that you can click on:

My Top 5 Best Actor contenders:
1. Bobby Au-Yeung – Dicey Business
Bobby was simply great in DB. It was a genuinely different and yet wonderful performance using his non-comedic acting chops.
2. Damien Lau – Drive Of Life
As usual, Damien gives a good performance in this series. He brings in something different whenever he appears onscreen. Many of the actors in this serie praised him in a TVB Weekly Article.
3. Dayo Wong – Men Don't Cry
Dayo is a popular actor to the HK audience when it comes to comedies (his ATV drama series The Great Adventure didn't do that well in ratings). I have no idea whether this serie is comedic, but I read bits that he may be playing a villain? If he does a REALLY good job, and the series is a big hit during anniversary time...maybe he will regain the award that he got jipped for To Catch the Uncatchable.
4. Moses Chan – Heart Of Greed
Now, I have not watched Heart of Greed fully (just the first couple of eppies), but since HOG was such a hit, it's highly probable that he would be part of this list. In my opinion, I think Moses is a pretty good actor, though I can't say whether he deserves it for his performance in HOG. Plus, he is after all, one of TVB's favorite sons.
5. Raymond Lam – Drive Of Life
Now, Raymond's acting has always been consistent, and in DOL, he has also done a good job. I would say he improved from previous performances (if that is possible), but I just feel that he has not reach his true full potential because his character in here doesn't give him a lot to deal with (like Damian's character)or rather anything different from previous performances.

My thoughts on Best Actress Contenders:
I have not watched a majority of these series. I am rooting for Sheren Tang anyways though. She's been awfully jipped in the last 2-3 years though. Would she pull a Kenix after this year and stop acting for TVB? Hope not, because that would be a huge lost for TVB viewers. I think Michelle Yim is definitely awesome in The Brink of Law, but she doesn't seem to be on TVB favorites list. Riding on the HOG wave, Susanna Kwan and Lee Si Kei are hot contenders for Best Actress. Now, I have not watched HOG, but no doubt probably, these veterans probably gave their best performances, but somehow I've always sensed that TVB, with the exception of Liza Wang, likes to "promote" the younger actresses over the older actresses for the Best Actress spot. Of course, if TVB really wants to play it safe, they can always give it to Liza Wang again.

Best Supporting Actor
Again, have not watched HOG and Family Link, but riding on the popularity waves, I think Louis Yuen for HOG, Al Wei & Derek Kwok for Family Link. If it's on what I watched, I think Ng Wai Kwok should get it for the Drive of Life. I find his performance as the cold, lonely, and revengeful Ngai Tin Hung in the Drive of Life very well done. Same with Benz Hui, though I think his best performance ever was To Get Unstuck In Time.

Best Supporting Actress
hmm...is it just me, or the nominees for this category isn't very strong? Since I have not watched any of this series except Drive of Life (but I don't really feel Gigi Wong or Toby Leung really exception in there), so I don't have much to say. Anyhoo, with personal preferences, I would root for Leila Tong, Mary Hon, and Charmaine Li though.

Most Favorite Male & Female Characters
I have a strong feeling these categories would go to the Heart of Greed male and female nominees, Moses Chan and Linda Chung. If Moses doesn't get it, then Ha Yu might. Though Bobby Au Yeung and Dayo Wong may have a chance with this category though.

Most Improved Actor
Interesting....a lot of new faces....I woulda think they would pass this baton on to Sammul, but Lai Lok Yi is just as swell (after all, he's part of the six Olympic guys back then). Other nominees I like based on preferences, Jack Wu and Amigo Chui.

Most Improved Actress
Somehow, after causing so much complaints for the past two years, the majority of the list of nominees for this year have improved save for Toby Leung, Kate Tsui, and Fala Chen. So I guess, as long as it's anyone other than those three, perhaps this year, fans would not complain about this category this year. Based on personal perferences, Go Selina, Leila, Nancy, and Bernice!

Best Series
Looking at the series nominated for Best Series, it's not a shabby year for TVB. A lot of good series under its belt. Me guess if based on popularity, Heart of Greed would sweep this award, but if based on overall writing for the serie, Drive of Life win hands down (I read that HOG was ridiculous in terms of plot).
******
Over the past years, TVB likes to spread out the awards for their serie save for War and Beauty, so judging that there are so many decent to good series out this year, I think and hope they do that too for this year. I really don't think Heart of Greed is of War and Beauty caliber to be able to sweep all the awards.
