Unveil the Masks- a fanfiction plot

Every once in a while, I would have an idea to write a fanfiction, but I usually don’t get myself together to start and finish them. So I’ve decided to write these story plots out instead, and maybe whenever I get myself to actually start them later on, then I would remember from these posts.

The first fanfiction idea I had in mind now is inspired by the Korean series ‘All About Eve’. Since TVB focuses on different themes in their series, I’ve always hoped TVB would film a series that is focused on journalism and news reporting like ‘All About Eve’ did. So here is my fanfiction story plot. The people in parenthesis are the people who I would like to be those characters.

Unveil The Masks, a fanfiction

In the broadcasting journalism world, to succeed, one must have perseverance, good communication skills, and of course talent. Being in the industry for years, Tsui Yuen Bing (Michelle Yim) is heavily regarded as the most successful news anchor at LTVS station and in Hong Kong. Having her own news program and maintaining her position as Chief Anchor of the station makes her at the top of the game. But wishing to retire soon, she hopes that her daughters would be able to make a place for themselves and take her place one day at the station.

Shum Kwan Yue (Tavia) is Tsui Yuen Bing’s (Michelle) daughter with her ex-husband, Shum Gin Cheorng (Damian Lau), who is the current president of the news division at LTVS. Although she was raised by her father and stepmom, she admires her mother’s career as a successful anchorswoman. Intelligent, optimistic and somewhat innocent, Kwan Yue (Tavia) wishes to follow in her mother’s footsteps. However, her half-sisters and fellow interns at the station, Mok Yi Han (Shirley) and Shum Suet Ting (Leila) may not make her path any easier.

Mok Yi Han (Shirley) is the daughter of Tsui Yuen Bing (Michelle) & her current husband, Mok Bong (Ng Wai Kwok), who is currently working at rival station, ZTN. Ambitious and often blunt, Yi Han (Shirley) would do whatever it takes to get what she wants. She has issues of resentment against her father for being less successful than her mom and just a mere cameraman working at the lesser valued broadcasting station, ZTN.

Suet Ting (Leila) is the daughter of Shum Gin Cheorng (Damian) and his current wife, Kwok Hoi Lam (Sheren Teng), who is often consider the second-best news anchorwoman at the station. Due to her mother’s jealous nature and influence,Suet Ting (Leila) is often jealous of Kwan Yue (Tavia), who seems to be Gin Cheorng’s (Damian) favorite daughter. On the outside, she appears to be a good sister to Kwan Yue (Tavia), but on the inside, she is secretly competing with Kwan Yue (Tavia) to beat her in love and career.

With regards to romance, all three sisters are interested in the dashingly handsome and charming Lai Jun Kwong (Ron), who is not only the only son of the stations’s (LTVS) owner, Lai Hung (Kenneth Tsang), but who also wishes to make a successful career as a news anchorman himself. Although Jun Kwong (Ron) was initially attracted to Yi Han (Shirley) because of the chase, he finds himself falling for the sweet girl, Kwan Yue (Tavia), after getting to know her better. Because of their rivalry with Jun Kwong (Ron), Yi Han (Shirley) enlists Suet Ting‘s (Leila) help to ensure problems for Kwan Yue (Tavia) at the station. After one failed attempt, Yi Han (Shirley) was found out to be a culprit, and thus was frozen by the company to work on side projects. It can be said there’s always bound to be some fortune wrapped around misfortune because she meets Fong Siu Hong (Bosco), a carefree and fun cameraman and photographer. He convinces Yi Han (Shirley) to let go of her anger and to have fun. Because of Siu Hong’s (Bosco) constant support, she eventually gets on the right path again. Meanwhile, Suet Ting (Leila) finally achieves to bring Kwan Yue (Tavia) down when she manages to steal Jun Kwong’s (Ron) heart away from her and took her spot as newscaster at 6:00PM. Seeing her half-sisters being so successful in love and career even though they are horrible people, Kwan Yue (Tavia) cries injustice and vows revenge on them both.

Knowing the playboy son of rival station ZTN, Chow Man Tim (Raymond), is interested in her, she seduces him and manages to climb the ladder up at that station. Giving her sisters a taste of their own medicine, Kwan Yue (Tavia) uses some dirty tricks up her sleeves to wreck havoc on her half-sister’s lives in love and career, while keeping a benevolent and caring appearance. After a series of problems, Suet Ting (Leila) and Yi Han (Shirley) both realized Kwan Yue’s (Tavia) harmful intentions and worked to counter Kwan Yue’s (Tavia) attacks.

And while the younger gals are duking it out over love and career, the moms are not far behind their daughter’s plans and schemes. While both are hoping to see their own daughters at the top, they haven’t taken themselves out of the race either. Hoping to take over Tsui Yuen Bing’s (Michelle Yim) spot at the station, Kwok Hoi Lam (Sheren) plans various plot holes for Tsui Yuen Bing (Michelle Yim) to fall into. Tsui Yuen Bing (Michelle Yim) is not weak at this game either and works to tarnish Kwok Hoi Lam’s (Sheren) reputation in the process.

Racing against each other to become the top news-anchors woman spot in Hong Kong, who would eventually make it? Would they each know the limits or would they end up failing horribly? A story filled with angst, excitement, and a touch of romance, as the characters get involved with journalism and broadcasting, it would definitely keep you at the edge of your seat.

So what do you guys think? Good, bad, horrible?
